Bosch’s Security Systems division is looking to cater directly to the home security system needs of service providers by partnering with GreenPeak Technologies.

Service providers have demonstrated that home security is a viable adjunct to their set of broadband-based services. GreenPeak has introduced a set of integrated circuits to enable wireless RF connectivity based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standards, long known as ZigBee and more recently as RF4CE, intended for use in home network products, including but not limited to home security systems.

Bosch Security Systems said it will begin integrating GreenPeak RF technology in its sensors and other home monitoring and control products. The goal is to create a scalable system that ranges from delivering only sensors to a complete cloud-based home security service solution, adjusting to the needs of the supported business model of the operator, Bosch said.

The two companies intend to demonstrate at the IBC show this week applications in the area of energy efficiency and home care, as well as home security, combining their respective technologies.

“Several large operators are currently already deploying security services bundled with other service subscriptions. The set-top box is the gateway for these service offerings, effortlessly connecting numerous home sense and control devices in one integrated set of Smart Home applications,” said Cees Links, founder and CEO of GreenPeak Technologies.

“Smart Home services like remote control of doors, thermostats and lighting, all centrally monitored and controlled by the set-top box/gateway, are very enticing for cable and service operators. These new services will provide both increased customer loyalty, as well as additional revenues,” said Peter Ribinski, a member of the board of Bosch Security Systems.
