Vishay Intertechnology (Malvern, PA) introduced a new series of high-power, high-current grid resistors. Offering designers a convenient drop-in replacement for competing solutions, Vishay Milwaukee GRE1 devices combine high power ratings to 6.5 kW and high operating temperatures to +400 °C with a robust design. The grid resistors released today are optimized for capacitor pre-charge and discharge, dynamic braking, load testing, heater, and neutral grounding applications in locomotives, harmonic filters, and renewable energy and industrial systems. The devices feature:
- Power capability from 1 kW to 6.5 kW at +40 °C.
- Wide resistance range from 0.1 Ω to 24 Ω.
- Tolerance of ± 10 %.
- Low inductance from 5 µH to 40 µH.
