After more than 10 years at Midcontinent Communications, David Haigh will start his new job on Monday as Charter Communication’s regional vice president of inside plant.
Haigh will be based in Madison, Wis. and will report to Sean Gallagher, vice president of corporate ISP.
Haigh started his cable career at Optus in Sydney, Australia. He moved to the United States in 2000 and worked for High Speed Access. In 2002 Haigh joined Midcontinent Communications in Sioux Falls, South Dakota as lead engineer.
Midcontinent has been a technology innovator in the cable industry and Haigh played a key role in the company’s engineering efforts. He was instrumental in developing Midcontinent’s preventative maintenance program that enabled Midcontinent to be the first cable operator in the nation to deploy 64QAM on the upstream. In recognition of that work, Haigh won CED’s Pacesetter Award in 2008 for Test & Measurement.
Haigh designed Midcontinent’s DOCSIS 3.0 architecture and it became the first MSO to completely deploy DOCSIS 3.0 in the United States.
In 2008, he received the SCTE Young Engineer of the Year Award. Haigh has spoken at numerous national and regional SCTE seminars and has served as Region 6 Director on the National SCTE board since 2009.
