Demonstrating that you’re never too small to target the enterprise market, Hargray Communications said it intends to purchase iTech, a managed services company.
The acquisition is due to close on Jan. 31. Terms were not disclosed.
Hargray has operations in South Carolina and in Georgia, and iTech is headquartered in Savannah, Ga. During 2012, Hargray invested millions of dollars to build a fiber network in downtown Savannah.
Hargray today offers Savannah businesses a portfolio of advanced communications products, including symmetrical advanced high-speed Internet (providing speeds up to 1 Gbps), Metro Ethernet (Metro-E) and high-definition video. Now, with the addition of iTech and its talented team, Hargray will also offer a full suite of managed services.
Michael Gottdenker, chairman and CEO of Hargray, said, “We believe that our larger scale and extensive fiber network, combined with iTech’s product set and our overlapping geography, makes for a winning combination for both companies’ customers.”
“Acquiring iTech will enable us to expand the set of business communications and IT services we bring to our customers not only in Savannah, but also in South Carolina,” said Andrew Rein, vice president of sales and marketing for Hargray. “These products include managed IT services, data storage and backup, IP telephony and unified communications, and hosted services. Further, Hargray is uniquely positioned in the market with local technical support, customer care and account executive personnel, which allows for faster response times, the highest level of reliability, custom engineering solutions and onsite operational system design.”
