In order to expand its presence in southeast Georgia, South Carolina-based Hargray Communications announced it has picked up Reidsville, Ga.-based Kennedy Cablevision.
In addition to adding Kennedy Cablevision’s residential and commercial customers into the fold, Hargray said the deal would allow it to upgrade its existing network technology and infrastructure as well build out additional infrastructure.
“We are thrilled to bring our residential and commercial communications services to Reidsville,” said Joel Braun, Hargray’s director of sales. “The acquisition of Kennedy Cablevision will enable us to serve a new community with our full suite of advanced residential and commercial services, including Internet speeds up to 100 Mbps, more than 175 digital television channels, multi-room HD/DVR, TV Everywhere, and telephone services with unlimited nationwide calling.
“In addition, this acquisition facilitates our construction of a self-healing ring connecting Savannah, Hinesville, and Statesboro which further enhances our quality of service for our new Hinesville and Statesboro enterprise fiber customers.”
Hargray said it would work with Kennedy Cablevision to transition customers from Kennedy’s network and billing systems to Hargray’s network and billing systems. The transition is slated to begin early next year.
Hargray’s existing footprint includes Beaufort, Jasper, and Hampton counties in South Carolina, and Chatham, Bulloch, and Liberty counties in Georgia
