Russian MSO National Cable Networks (NCN) has tapped Harmonic Inc. to boost the capacity and reach of its St. Petersburg cable system.
NCN is upgrading its existing copper and wireless MMDS networks to a two-way fiber-rich network, and expanding to areas not yet served. It is deploying Harmonic’s PWRLink 1310 transmitters and PWRBlazer HLN 3842C 4-port and HLN 3812 compact nodes in the last mile.
NCN, which serves more than 1 million subs in the area, will use the new technology to introduce high-definition television services, and a range of interactive video and data applications.
The company installed a Harmonic digital video headend earlier in the year.
