Harmonic Inc. posted Q3 net sales of $61 million, a year-over-year increase of 20 percent. That wasn’t enough to avoid a net loss of $2.9 million (4 cents per share), which was narrowed from a net loss of $4.2 million (6 cents per share) a year ago.
The company said international sales were 44 percent of total sales, down from 59 percent last year, but up from 41 percent in Q2.
The company’s division that makes digital headends notched sales of $35.8 million, up from $34.6 million a year ago, but down from $43 million in Q2. Harmonic attributed the sequential decline to a reduction in orders in recent months from major cable operators.
Harmonic’s fiber optics unit had sales of $25.2 million, up 58 percent from last year, and up 51 percent from Q2.
