T-Com Germany, the broadband/fixed line division of Deutsche Telekom, has deployed Harmonic’s digital video products, including the DiviCom Electra SD and HD MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) encoders, for its new T-Home IPTV video service.

Harmonic said T-Home represents the largest European deployment to date based on the Microsoft TV IPTV platform.

The DiviCom Electra 5000 series of SD encoders can simultaneously deliver high-quality video at full and low resolution for applications such as picture-in-picture (PiP), personalized multi-channel mosaics and streaming video to the PC.

Separately, Harmonic announced its new ProStream 2000 digital splicer, a scalable system for national, local and targeted ad/program insertion. The ProStream 2000 can perform seamless real-time splicing of standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) MPEG-4 AVC (H.264) video streams, within a 1-RU box.
