V-Infinity, a division of CUI Inc, introduced a series of high density, medically approved open frame switching power supplies. The VMS-160 series outputs 160W with 200 LFM forced air cooling or 100W under convection-cooled conditions. This translates to a power density of 18 W/in³ in a 1U, industry standard, 2” x 4” footprint. The power supplies are approved to both medical EN60601-1 and ITE EN60950-1 safety standards. This series delivers high power in a low profile package (1.06” height), making it suitable for applications where space is limited and energy efficiency is a high priority. The series offers universal input (90V AC to 264V AC) and single output voltages of 5V DC, 12V DC, 24V DC, and 48V DC. Other features include built-in active PFC function, 90 percent typical efficiency, and a 12V auxiliary fan output. Operating temperature is from 0°C to 50°C and protections include over-temperature, over current, and over-voltage. The VMS-160 series are available now and cost $101.20 in 100 piece quantities.
