Hitron Technologies Americas has introduced a new DOCSIS 3.0 gateway, with a 24×8 configuration, and incorporating both the latest version of Wi-Fi (802.11ac) and MoCA 2.0.
The system, designated the CGMN, transfers data at up to 400 Mbps over cable using MoCA. On the wireless side, the gateway integrates a Wi-Fi 3×3 802.11n/802.11ac MIMO Dual Band Concurrent radio that supports speeds of ranging from 450 Mbps to 1.3 Gbps. The company believes this is the first gateway with this combination of features.
With a built-in Puma 6MG DOCSIS chipset, the CGMN combines twenty-four bonded downstream channels, eight upstream channels and an integrated 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch. The CGMN has two USB 2.0 hosts which can support Network Attached Storage, and an integrated DLNA Media Server.
The CGNM also incorporates a 600 MHz ARM core processor for routing, plus a 1.2GHz core for WiFi and feature offload to enhance WiFi performance.
The CGMN supports IPv4 and IPv6 routing features, firewall with SPI and support for DSLite as well as native IPv6 for differing IPv6 deployment and transition strategies.
TR-69 management is also provided for all Wi-Fi, Routing, Parental Control, and MoCA features.
Service providers will also be able to take advantage of the integrated Spectrum Analysis Application to view cable-plant RF interference and WiFi management applications to monitor WiFi client performance and site survey graphical depiction, Hitron said.
The CGNM has been certified interoperable with CableLabs DOCSIS standard in Certification Wave 106.
Also in wave 106, Alcatel-Lucent had its 7360 OLTs qualified for DOCSIS Provisioning over EPON (DPoE) 1.0. A-L joins a list of companies with CableLabs qualified DPoE gear that includes Aurora Networks, CommScope, Huawei, Sumitomo Electric, and ZTE.
