After introducing residential satellite broadband service in October, Hughes Network Systems has introduced three service plans specifically for business customers.

The EchoStar subsidiary said its Gen4 Business Internet, available in the continental U.S., is aimed at areas lacking cable or DSL service, or where other options, such as T1 lines, are expensive.

HughesNet Gen4 Business Internet plans provide download speeds of 10 Mbps or 15 Mbps and larger data allowances than residential tiers, in exchange for higher monthly fees.

The residential plans run from $50 a month for 10 Mbps and a 20 GB data cap, to $80 a month with a 30 GB allotment, to $100 a month for 15 Mbps down and a 40 GB allowance.

The three business service plans offer 200 GB, 300 GB or 400 GB, with prices ranging from $80 to $130 a month.

Business plans also include HughesNet Express Repair Premium at no cost for the first year, which provides next business day onsite service, free anti-virus software for up to three PCs, commercial installation and business-grade support.

Hughes Gen4 residential service is available in much of the eastern half of the U.S. and in a swath running down the line of the West Coast. Hughes Network Systems is owned by EchoStar.

“Small- and medium-size businesses with limited or no access to landline broadband Internet deserve the same high quality and speed available in well-served areas,” saidSam Baumel, vice president of SME at Hughes. “HughesNet Business Internet gives them the performance they need no matter where they choose to work or live.”
