Hulu is deliberating about whether or not to change its business model, considering the possibility of becoming a sort of online cable company, The Wall Street Journal is reporting.
The discussion at Hulu comes in the context of internal discussions by the company’s owners – NBC Universal (soon to be Comcast), News Corp. and Disney – as they reconsider how much content they wish to make available for free – if any.
Hulu executives, the WSJ said, are considering several paths to follow, including becoming an online bundler of live channels supplemented with on-demand content – in essence, an online cable company.
