This week’s story is brought to us by reader Rudy Schneider.
After reading what led several other of my colleague engineers to choose their path, I figured I had an equally good story to tell…
As if growing up in Silicon Valley in the 60s wasn’t already enough, all it took for me to catch the engineering bug was to meet my uncle’s girlfriend’s brother-in-law, who had an Extra-Class Amateur Radio License.
I got to see his “rig” and the walls of his “shack” festooned with communication acknowledgement cards (QSLs, in HAM lingo) from all over the world.
Thus began my interest in—and love of tinkering with—electronics, and I’ve never looked back.
