Designing in safe power density
It might not be a drop-in replacement, but the promise of modularity for future designs is what should make AEM’s Components’ new fuses create a spark. The 2822 surface-mount package for all models in the CMF series ranging from 20A to 100A @125 VDC allows designers to pick and place so that if 20A doesn’t work for a particular application, they can go with a 40A or 60A model without having to respin their board.
The low DC resistance of 1.85mΩ @ 20A to 0.41mΩ @ 100A contributes to a “safe power density” — a sort of single quality factor to evaluate high current fuses in high-reliability applications by identifying size plus interrupt performance and voltage level.
