Comcast is considering paying somewhere in the range of $1 billion to $1.5 billion to become the full owner of two Orlando, Fla., theme parks that it already owns a stake in thanks to its NBC Universal deal.
Online website TheWrap.com reported that Comcast is working on a deal to buy the Blackstone Group’s 50 percent stake in Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure in Orlando in order to become the full owner.
The deal needs to be wrapped up by June 12 in order to keep Blackstone from offering the properties elsewhere. TheWrap said that Comcast’s board hasn’t yet approved of the transaction but is expected to do so.
