Time Warner Cable’s Wideband Internet tier, which features download speeds of up to 50 Mbps, is now available to the cable operator’s subscribers in central Ohio.
According to a story in today’s The Columbus Dispatch, the DOCSIS 3.0 tier, which has speeds of up to 5 Mbps on the return path, is now available throughout most of Time Warner Cable’s Mid-Ohio division.
Time Warner Cable is charging residential users $99.95 per month for its Wideband Internet offering. The newspaper said it is also offering Road Runner Broadband Extreme, which has speeds of 30/5 Mbps. Road Runner Extreme is available for $20 more per month than Road Runner Broadband, or $10 more per month than Road Runner Broadband Turbo.
Time Warner Cable is also offering business-class tiers in Ohio with speeds of 50/5 and 35/5.
Compared with other large cable operators, Time Warner Cable was late out of the starting blocks with its DOCSIS 3.0-based tiers, but it has been picking up momentum. In its recent first-quarter earnings report, Time Warner Cable said it had a total of 9,000 wideband subscribers, which almost doubled the 5,000 users from the fourth quarter.
