Verimatrix announced that it has been selected by India’s IOL Netcom to provide content security for IOL Netcom’s on-demand IPTV service.
According to Verimatrix, IOL Netcom’s IP-based on-demand service is the first of its kind in India and will be targeted to more than 250,000 subscribers.
In addition to deploying the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS), IOL will be offering MPEG-4 content via subscribers’ home PCs through Verimatrix’s ViewRight PC Player.
IOL will be offering the PC as a second screen in a subscriber’s home, providing another option to view its on-demand movie library and 150 broadcast channels.
“Verimatrix proved to be the best content security choice to not only meet the content owners’ requirements for MPEG-4 programming, but enable a new business model through the PC,” said Siddhartha Srivastava, president of IOL Netcom. “Expanding delivery options to the PC will assist in customer acquisition, reduce installation resources and allow the customer to experience our ‘Anything, Anytime, Anywhere’ promise.”
IOL’s IPTV services have been deployed in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, and Verimatrix is one of the platform components used in all of the deployments.
