QCOL, an independent cable operator, has will deploy equipment from Motorola Broadband and Quantum Bridge Communications to support a fiber-to-the-home network that will serve areas of Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia.
That Passive Optical Network (PON) will foster a triple play of voice, video and data services to homes in Fayette County, Pa.; Garrett County, Md.; and Preston County, W.Va. QCOL presently offers dial-up, cable modem, wireless and leased-line Internet access to businesses and residences in the tri-state region.
The deployment deals follows an agreement forged in June between Motorola and Quantum Bridge to collectively offer FTTH technologies. The combination is based on Quantum’s PON switching gear and Motorola’s line of customer premises gear, including its ONT1000.
