Exhibiting sophisticated style and a classic look, Skydome® Edge continues the legacy of the popular Skydome family utilizing edge lighting technology. The innovative new addition to the impressive Skydome family of products will be formally introduced to the marketplace in booth 2402 at LIGHTFAIR® International, being held May 8-10 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
“Modernizing a timeless and classic luminaire series like Skydome required thoughtful engineering, as to not disrupt any elements of the original design that made it so successful since its introduction over 20 years ago. One of the biggest upgrades was leveraging edge lighting technology, which delivers the benefits of a shallow knife-edge profile and unparalleled lens uniformity, especially with larger diameter luminaires,” remarked Mike Thornton, Chief Marketing Officer for Chicago-based Focal Point.
Skydome Edge accommodates diverse commercial spaces, ranging from airport concourses and large lobbies, to reception areas and meeting rooms.
Offered in a wide range of lumen outputs for direct (2000-14000) and indirect (0-2500) distributions, Skydome Edge is available with pendant or surface mounting, as well as custom finish options in nominal 2-, 3-, or 4-foot diameters. Color temperatures range between 2700K-4000K. Unlit, sound absorbing companions provide additional benefits, lending both visual and acoustic comfort as part of an integrated luminaire and sound baffle system.
All told, it is this kind of engineering responsibility and attention to detail that Thornton said separates Focal Point from the competition.
“Lighting is not just about making light fixtures. It’s about procuring value to the lighting industry but moreover to the end user – the people who work, study, live and heal in offices, schools, healthcare and other environments. For us, human-centric lighting and technology are all about improving the connection between people and their environment and quality of life. That’s what the Skydome Edge series accomplishes, and will continue to accomplish as its legacy lives on for another 20+ years.”
