Insight Communications, the nation’s ninth-largest cable operator, is using digital video gear from Harmonic for its digital cable network upgrades.
Insight is using Harmonic’s SD and HD encoders, NMX Digital Service Manager and universal edge QAMs to power its Digital 5.0 service, which has more than 330 channels and up to 58 HD channels. The project includes system upgrades in Kentucky, Ohio and Indiana.
“We are very satisfied by the great video quality of Harmonic’s compression and stream processing solutions,” said Abraham Naghibi, vice president of advanced video engineering at Insight Communications. “With this upgrade, we have invested in a state-of-the-art, fully IP-based infrastructure that can seamlessly support our recently expanded digital cable service.”
Insight has previously deployed gear from Harmonic when it launched its VOD service.
