Autonomous vehicles are the ultimate future for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). For widespread acceptance, the cost of “seeing the road” must be considerably cheaper than it is in today’s limited production, high-end vehicles. The right cost will make a technology acceptable for many applications and wide range of vehicles. Targeting a cost of $250 in volumes in the 10,000-unit range, Quanergy says it has the answer with its S3 – the world’s first integrated solid-state LiDAR sensor. In addition to compact size and affordable price, the 3D time-of-flight sensor has no moving parts for high reliability and long lifetime.
