Elemental Technologies has added Sujal Patel, the founder of Isilon Systems, to its board of directors.

Patel replaces Bob Greenberg on the company’s board. Greenberg was among the company’s earliest investors.

Isilon, a division of EMC, specializes in scale-out storage. Patel is recognized for pioneering the technical architecture for clustered storage, creating a new sector in the enterprise storage market, and holds a number of patents and pending patents, including those for the Isilon OneFS distributed file system.

Prior to founding Isilon, Patel served in various engineering roles at RealNetworks. He is also a board member at Extrahop Networks, a Seattle-based start-up that supplies network-based application performance management solutions.
