JDSU is now selling an integrated power meter, the HP3-60, which combines fiber inspection and optical power measurement into a single, handheld device.
The device is designed to provide quick, easy and accurate field measurements of optical power and attenuation.
Matt Brown, director of product management for the JDSU Communications Test and Measurement segment, said, “By joining together two of the most basic fiber optic tools into one low-cost unit, we enable technicians to avoid the number one cause of network downtime: contaminated fiber.”
A probe and patchcord microscope on the HP3-60 allows users to visually see the end-face of a fiber optic connector on a 1.8-inch TFT LCD, while an optical power meter measures the power of an optical signal.
The HP3-60 will also work in tandem with the JDSU T-BERD/MTS 4000, 6000 and 8000 systems.
