JDSU reported a significantly narrower first quarter net loss of $17.4 million on revenue of $318.1 million a year ago, and almost precisely the same amount of sales as the fourth quarter. The company lost $45.8 million against $318.2 million in revenue in Q4.
A year ago, JDSU reported revenue of $258.3 million, and a net loss of $67 million in its 2006 first quarter.
The numbers are all based on a GAAP basis. JDSU said on a non-GAAP basis, it actually reported its first profit in five years.
Some of the markers of the company’s continually improving financial performance included solid gains in the company’s optical and laser businesses. JDSU expects to continue building on those gains. It predicted net revenue of $332 million to $352 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2007, ending December 31, 2006.
