Netherlands service provider NV Kabeltelevisie Noord-Oost Friesland, which is known as Kabel Noord, said today that it has selected Arris’ DOCSIS 3.0 C4 CMTS platform to increase the data speeds it offers its 25,000 customers in the northeastern areas of Friesland.
Kabel Noord currently offers access to its own ISP, KNID, as well as those from two other Dutch MSOs, UPC and Ziggo, and intends to use the DOCSIS 3.0 C4 platform to consolidate the three services to upgrade and manage the various traffic flows from inside its network.
“We selected the Arris C4 CMTS platform for our data service upgrade because it specifically addressed the needs and architecture of a system our size,” said Kabel Noord CTO Anton van der Hoek. “Combining several providers on to one platform gives us the flexibility and reliability that are critical for our service plan.”
Kabel Noord is headquartered in Dokkum, the Netherlands, and serves communities in five counties in the country’s northernmost region, Friesland. It offers customers voice, video and data, as well as serves local businesses with Internet access and video conferencing.
