Paducah Power System, a municipally-owned electric utility in Kentucky, said it will use gear from Alcatel to power a new fiber-to-the-user (FTTU) network.
Paducah said it plans to offer high-speed data, voice and video services using Alcatel’s Broadband Passive Optical Networking (BPON)-based 7340 FTTU and OmniSwitch products.
Paducah Power services roughly two-thirds of all residents in McCracken County, including the city of Paducah. The company serves roughly 22,500 residential and commercial customers.
