Latens, a software conditional access and middleware vendor, announced today that a company in Norway was using its technology to provision a remote DVR service.
Altibox, which is a collaboration of suppliers that offer triple-play services over fiber, is using Latens’ Eco middleware platform to help enable a service that allows its customers to schedule and manage their DVR home recordings from anywhere.
The service lets customers view and search Altibox’s program listings from the full program guide, as well as schedule programs and view descriptions of selected shows. Altibox subscribers can manage and edit their DVR recordings over any Web-enabled device.
Altibox has more than 180,000 subscribers in Norway and Denmark for its fiber-to-the-home service.
“We are delighted to have helped Altibox deliver another great service to their customers,” said Latens CTO Jason Rogers. “Altibox’s success builds on our philosophy of developing revenue-generating services for our customers using Eco middleware. With remote DVR, operators can now offer a richer set of services, all the while protecting their content from piracy with Latens pre-integrated software Conditional Access.”
