Ludovic Lazareth, a custom builder, has just revealed a video that shows a four-wheeled motorcycle whose jet turbine-hubbed wheels fold up to turn it into a hoverbike, according to New Atlas.
Although just a prototype in the video, it is similar to the LM-847, another Lazareth design with a 470-horsepower Maserati engine, where each wheel is attached to a single-sided swingarm.
The new creation called “La Moto Volante,” also known as the Flying Motorcycle, has swingarms that fold outwards when the bike is sitting on a stand, while the wheels pivot so they sit horizontally.
Each hub’s center contains a jet turbine where the exhaust faces downward so the bike has a balanced thrust platform. The powerful turbines give it its power.
The design of this has been a collaborative effort with Jetcat, a German company that makes jet turbines for big players in the turbine industry, such as turbines used by the Jetman and the NASA/Skunk Works X-56A experimental aircraft.
Currently, it’s unknown if Lazareth plans to test fly this, or just use it as a piece of art, but it seems to be motorcycle-rideable.
