Liberty Global is using Amdocs’ mobile virtual network operators (MVNO) platform to support its mobile services in Hungary, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
With Liberty Global’s foray into quad play services, Amdocs said its Compact Convergence solution reduced time to market while also integrating MVNO with existing business support systems (BSS.)
Amdocs’ Compact Convergence is interfaced to third-party BSS and customer-facing systems to provide Liberty Global with a single view of the customer and enable a single bill across all lines of business, which includes existing broadband, fixed line and video services.
“As Liberty Global looks to introduce its quad-play offerings across Europe, we have chosen a flexible and proven managed solution that provides convergent, real-time charging and service delivery capabilities from an experienced partner,” said Dean Walters, chief information officer at Liberty Global. “The Amdocs solution supports our goal of bringing quad-play to our markets while giving each country operation the ability to create their own go-to-market approach, within their own brand.”
Added benefits include each MVNO being able to manage its own mobile service offerings, define product portfolio and tariffs while taking advantage of the common platform to speed delivery.
“With Amdocs managing day-to-day operations and future development of the MVNOs’ platform, Liberty Global will be able to focus on its customers and new marketing initiatives to drive business growth,” said Rebecca Prudhomme, vice president for product and solutions marketing at Amdocs.
Liberty Global, the world’s largest international cable operator, could be throwing more MVNO business Amdocs’ way down the road. At The Cable Show earlier this year, Liberty Global EVP and CTO Balan Nair said extending mobile services was one of Liberty Global’s top-three priorities.
“That’s a very big part of our core strategy,” Nair said during a Cable Show panel back in April. “This week we just launched in Switzerland and then we’ll be launching in the Netherlands next month (May.) We already have our mobile offering in Belgium, in the U.K. and in South America in Chili.”
