Lightpath, a division of Cablevision that offers Ethernet-based solutions for New York metro area businesses, reported today that its network now spans more than 8,000 lit locations and 6,500 route miles.
“More and more of our customers are running their businesses from the cloud, resulting in the most stringent reliability and bandwidth needs. Others are exploring how ultra-high bandwidth connectivity can help them further evolve business opportunities in the region,” Dave Pistacchio, president at Lightpath, explains. “Lightpath is bringing fiber to areas that other providers can’t, providing a far-reaching fast track for data throughout the New York metro area.”
Lightpath’s fiber network serves healthcare, media, government, education and financial organizations.
“The greater New York City area is the country’s largest, densest, and among the most competitive markets for fiber-based network services,” Brian Washburn, an analyst with Current Analysis, notes. “Lightpath began offering high-performance Ethernet over fiber across the market over 10 years ago. This latest customer growth milestone again proves out the company’s ongoing commitment to invest in a dense fiber footprint that connects enterprise locations to each other and to destinations including data centers, cloud services and exchanges.”
