A service provider with operations across the Caribbean is using Envivio’s encoders to deliver on-demand mobile video on the island of Jamaica.
Lime Jamaica is using Envivio’ 4Caster C4 multi-profile video encoders to deliver its entire lineup of premium TV channels. Lime is the first mobile carrier to offer mobile TV service in the Caribbean, according to the vendor.
“When we considered the quality of service we wanted to provide and the handsets we were offering, everything pointed to Envivio,” said Lime’s mobile TV project manager Sherburn Silvera.
Silvera said the company selected Envivio because it integrated well with its head end conditional access system on one end, and with the range of handsets it was using at the other.
Lime carries a selection of handsets from most of the handset vendors, including devices from Alcatel-Lucent, RIM Blackberry, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, and Sony Ericsson.
Lime launched its Mobile TV service last December.
