Marwan Fawaz is joining Nest as the new CEO. The news came Friday via a blog from the company’s CEO Tony Fadell, who co-founded it in October 2011, and also used the post to bid adieu. Fadell says he’s stepping down, and taking an advisory role at parent company Alphabet.
Fawaz is of course a very familiar name in the cable telecommunications engineering community. He was CTO at Charter Communications, and CEO at Motorola Home. He’s been a managing partner at Sarepta Advisors for the last couple years, and also served on the boards of CSG International, Synacor and ADT.
“Marwan’s extensive technology and engineering knowledge, his experience with global service providers, as well as his background in connected home platforms will be valuable in continuing our trajectory, especially in scaling the business, working with our partners, and supporting our enterprise channels,” Fadell says. “I have no doubt that the company will continue to flourish under his guidance and can’t wait to see the innovations currently in development brought to market.”
