Wave Broadband will unleash a 1-Gigabit service in one area of Seattle starting next month.
Through a subdivision, CondoInternet, Wave Broadband has seemingly beaten Google Fiber, Comcast and CenturyLink to the 1-Gigabit punch with its plans to offer the service to every home in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood, according to a blog in The Seattle Times.
The Seattle Times reported that the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service would be trialed in Eastlake first before launching in other Seattle and Puget Sound neighborhoods. The price point of the CondoInternet service is also of note. CondoInternet will offer the service for a flat rate of $80 per month, or a 100 Mbps tier for $60 per month, with no contract, equipment or service bundle requirements.
WaveDivision Holdings, the parent company of Wave Broadband, bought Spectrum Networks and its subsidiary CondoInternet in September of last year.
Prior to the upcoming Eastlake launch, CondoInternet deployed Ethernet-to-the-home Gigabit connections to condominiums and apartments in areas of downtown Seattle and Bellevue.
