Some commercial buildings in the Des Moines, Iowa, area will be offered access to broadband speeds up to 10 Gigabits per second by Mediacom Business, according to the operator. The buildings are owned by R&R Realty Group.
The operator will offset construction costs and installation timeframes for R&R Realty Group customers to provide immediate serviceability to more than 6.3 million square feet of office, flex and industrial space that were previously unserved by Mediacom Business’ network, Ed Pardini, SVP of field operations at Mediacom, reports.
“Our agreement with R&R Realty Group kicks off a companywide initiative to proactively connect more businesses to our network known as Project Open Road,” Pardini notes. “It is a key undertaking in Mediacom’s broader plan to make $1 billion in capital expenditures over the next three years to, among other projects, upgrade and expand our national broadband network.”
“Once complete, we will be able to bring up to 10-Gig speeds right to the doorsteps of the R&R Realty buildings located in the Des Moines Metro Area, providing their tenants with a choice for high-capacity broadband,” he adds.
President of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce Tiffany Menke comments: “By simply providing a right of entry that allows Mediacom Business to connect its fiber-optic network to commercial buildings, property owners in the Des Moines area can offer tenants a high-capacity broadband connection that puts them on par with businesses in the largest metropolitan areas in the country. It’s a boon for area businesses and our local economy.”
Construction is expected to begin next month and continue into additional designated market areas through the first half of 2017.
