Mediacom launched 1 Gbps internet service to 27 communities in parts of Delaware, Maryland, and Michigan this week.
The cable operator now offers gigabit internet speeds in more than 1,250 communities, with plans to bring 1 Gbps service to “virtually all” of the 3 million homes and businesses across its 22 state footprint.
“Creating true gigabit communities across our national footprint was a central component of the 3-year, $1 billion capital expenditure plan announced by Mediacom in 2016,” Doug Frank, group VP for Mediacom’s Coastal Region, which includes Delaware and Maryland systems, comments in a statement. “Our aggressive rollout of gigabit speeds has provided dozens of cities and towns in these areas of our service area with a distinct technological advantage in today’s global marketplace.”
The latest additions include 19 communities in Delaware’s Sussex County, as well as customers in southeastern Maryland and southwestern Michigan, the company said.
In August, Mediacom rolled out 1 Gbps service to 55 communities in southern Alabama and the Florida Panhandle. Along with each gigabit deployment, Mediacom also introduced a new 500 Mbps service tier.
