Synacor has struck an expanded deal with Mediacom Communications that includes use of Synacor’s identity management and TV Everywhere authentication platform, and extends the pair’s existing Web portal and digital advertising agreement.
Mediacom has also renewed its service agreement for Synacor’s email and collaboration platform, Zimbra.
The deal enables Mediacom subscribers to use TV Everywhere apps across devices without having to continually reenter passwords.
“We value our relationship with Synacor, and the seamless entertainment and communication experiences they help us deliver to our customers,” said John Pascarelli, EVP of operations at Mediacom, in a statement. “We look forward to offering richer digital experiences powered by Synacor’s innovative software platform.”
In April, Synacor added a new feature, Forever Login, to its Cloud ID authentication platform that took aim at the issue of password sharing and the headache of repeated logins. The feature provides operators with control over the maximum number of concurrent devices allowed for TV Everywhere logins and the required length of time between logins. Once a device is automatically registered, it also prompts consumers to simply “continue” to access the site or app they’re using to watch pay TV, rather than require a password.
“We’re delighted to be renewing our partnership with Mediacom. Through our joint efforts, Mediacom drives higher customer engagement with high impact customer experiences,” Synacor CEO Himesh Bhise said. “A robust portal, an advanced email platform and a frictionless TV Everywhere experience all contribute to that objective.”
