Mediacom Communications plans to deploy a whole-home/multi-screen service across its footprint throughout 2013. The MSO will base the service initially on four-tuner TiVo DVRs, and it will later give its subscribers the option of using a six-tuner version from Pace when that box becomes available.

Mediacom will begin its rollout with the TiVo Premiere Q four-tuner gateway DVR, TiVo Mini IP set-top box client, and companion applications for iOS and Android devices. The Pace model will be the six-tuner, DOCSIS 3.0-capable Pace XG1 gateway.

TiVo said it will be the primary software provider for Mediacom’s whole-home solution. The Pace box will run TiVo software so that Mediacom will be able to deliver both linear cable television with on-demand and Internet video content through a common user interface – TiVo’s – featuring universal search capabilities and personalized viewing recommendations.
