MegaPath Corp. is deploying equipment from Edgewater to deliver its business VoIP and data services.
Megapath provides managed data, voice, security and hosted IT services in North America, using T1 and Ethernet connections. The company is now installing its T1 and Ethernet circuits using Edgewater’s EdgeMarc 4552 Series ESBC as a WAN access router.
The Edgewater EM 4552 serves as the demarcation point for MegaPath services at the customer premises, providing T1 or Ethernet termination, data routing, quality of service (QoS) and the VoIP interoperability.
Edgewater said that gives MegaPath customers the choice to implement Hosted Voice and SIP Trunking services immediately, or as a future service upgrade.
Megapath is also using Edgewater’s EdgeView VoIP Support System as a diagnostic tool providing visibility into the performance of VoIP services.
“Edgewater Networks enables MegaPath to cost-effectively scale our business services to a wider audience while providing a broader scope of next-generation cloud services, including Hosted Voice,” said John Scarborough, senior vice president of product and marketing, MegaPath. “After extensive testing, we are pleased with the ease in which the Edgewater solution integrates into our environment as well as how it resolves interoperability and security issues while providing a superior end-user experience.”
Separately, Edgewater announced the availability of its EdgeProtect 7300 Enterprise Session Border Controller (ESBC), which was designed to enable secure, high-quality, real-time video communications between distributed users.
“The evolution of traditional network boundaries has made the job of connecting distributed offices, SOHO users, business partners and mobile employees increasingly complex,” said Dave G. Norman, chief executive officer of Edgewater Networks, Inc. “The EdgeProtect solution provides secure, reliable connectivity for video communications that enables SMB customers to improve productivity and reduce costs.”
The EdgeProtect 7300 is a single appliance that is optimized for small and medium businesses. It supports standards-based H.323 and H.460 NAT/firewall traversal with flexible security policy management. The system will work with existing H.323 gatekeepers and also includes an embedded gatekeeper option for H.323 signaling, the company said.
