MetroCast Communications has fired up a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) service in two communities that it serves in Mississippi.
The recent FTTH deployments in the Mississippi towns of Starkville and Oxford followed on the heels of a deployment in Carthage, Mississippi earlier this year.
The latest FTTH deployments by MetroCast Communications were at the Cottages at Creekside in Starkville and at The Preserve at Oxford Commons near downtown Oxford.
MetroCast, which provides triple play serivces in nine states, also has deployed FTTH in its Maryland and Virginia service areas.
“We are excited to bring this advanced technology to these residents in Starkville and Oxford,” said MetroCast Regional General Manager, Rick Ferrall. “Fiber to the Home will provide high levels of reliability and will ensure that residents have access to high quality video, Internet and phone services, backed with first-rate customer service and technical support.”
Earlier this month, MetroCast cut a deal with ESPN to offer the SEC Network in Mississippi and Connecticut. In June, MetroCast, which has started its conversion to all digital, announced it had deployed outdoor Wi-Fi hotspots in multiple locations in its service areas in Connecticut, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and Mississippi.
