Totalplay Telecomunicaciones, an IPTV service provider in Mexico, has deployed Envivio Muse encoders to provision its live and on-demand services.
Totalplay Telecomunicaciones, which is a subsidiary of Grupo Salinas, wanted to extend its channel lineup and improve its video quality while also cutting down on space requirements in the headend. To help meet those goals, Totalplay is using software-based Muse encoders on the Envivio 4Caster Gen III platform.
“We deliver more than 200 SD and 50 HD channels, and it is critical that we offer our subscribers the best possible quality while also managing our infrastructure and management costs,” said Eduardo Kuri, CEO of Totalplay. “Envivio provided a robust video processing solution for our TV offering, both for live and on-demand services.”
Muse is Envivio’s software-based encoding offering for real-time broadcast applications. It can be used for IPTV, cable, satellite, Internet and mobile service providers. According to Envivio, video services in any format and resolution are supported, as well as advanced applications such as advertisement insertion and content protection for personal devices.
“Our solutions are designed to offer the adaptability operators require, whether delivering high-definition on a big-screen TV or adaptive bit rate video on a tablet or smartphone,” said Envivio President and CEO Julien Signes. “With this new deployment, Totalplay enhanced its video service for viewers in Mexico and can easily add new services over time, as well.”
