The company designed the hard drives for DVRs, set-top boxes, home servers, TV receivers, digital A/V juke boxes and other consumer products, it says. Under a new partnership, Adaptec Inc. and Cisco Systems Inc. will test and market iSCSI systems using Adaptec’s ASIC-based iSCSI adapters and Cisco storage routers, with a goal of creating an “iSCSI ecosystem” to accelerate iSCSI SAN adoption, the companies say. Pennsylvania’s Borough of Kutztown will deploy Optical Solutions Inc.‘s FiberPath 400 all-optic network as part of an economic development effort, the company says. The college town will use the network to deliver data service up to 100 Mbps to residences and businesses, with potential to provide voice services via a deal with the phone company. Other possible services include VOD, VoIP, security monitoring and VPN services.
