MRV Communications said it has expanded its OptiDriver optical transport portfolio with new 12- and 16 slot chassis.
These smaller chassis, scaled back from the company’s standard 48-slot chassis, are designed for cable operators, smaller data center interconnects, Tier 3 service providers, enterprises and others who have limited space for network equipment and may not need the full capacity provided by a 48 slot system.
MRV said the new systems are appropriate for smaller 10G and 100G networking environments, balancing bandwidth and integrated management features to streamline the delivery of services such as cloud connectivity and content delivery.
The OptiDriver 16 slot chassis supports a single row of single-height cards optimized for high-density 10G applications in remote locations.
The OptiDriver 12 slot chassis features a new design that holds three rows of flexible dual-height cards capable of supporting emerging technologies like 100G and ROADM, MRV said. Additionally, the 12 slot chassis may be used for redundant management hardware in locations that require enhanced management reliability.
The entire OptiDriver portfolio is integrated with MRV’s Pro-Vision service delivery platform. Built-in processing for current and emerging intelligent control plane technologies like GMPLS and software-defined networking (SDN) enables quick integration into new and existing networks.
