MRV Communications at the Interop show this week is introducing a wireless 10-Gigabit Ethernet system.
MRV’s TereScope TS-10GE is a line-of-sight system designed for service providers and the enterprise market. The specific application is extending backbone networks between multiple buildings without having to secure rights-of-way or install fiber.
The system has a range of up to 850 meters in clear weather. It connects to the customer’s LAN using an XFP interface with physical-layer and wavelength flexibility and distances up to 10 kilometers. It can be connected to an MRV 10/100 RF for back up in the event of heavy fog.
The 10GE TereScope TS-10GE will be available in the second half of 2008 with a list price of $45,000.
