ThePlatform, Comcast Wholesale’s video publishing company, announced Thursday it will team up with NBCUniversal Digital Enterprises to offer a new online streaming comedy channel.
Dubbed Seeso, the channel will use thePlatform’s cloud-based mpx video publishing system to “deliver on-demand and live streaming video services and commerce, providing centralized video uploads, easy workflow management, metadata management, subscriber management, transactions, viewing rights enforcement, and automated publishing across devices and video players,” the company said.
Among the features thePlatform will bring to the channel are an autoplay function, a “hunt while you watch” function and a “free-forever front porch,” which will enable viewers to view a subset of Seeso content by entering an email address.
“We are very proud to play such a key role in bringing Seeso to fans’ screens across the U.S. and around the world,” said Michael Kurtzman, Vice President of Sales at thePlatform. “As this Seeso deployment shows, we can provide a robust online video solution that enables our content partners to focus their precious time on creating great content.”
Seeso includes a live OTT stand-up comedy series, “The Guest List: Live from The Barrel House,” as well as original content from comedians like Amy Poehler, Matt Walsh and Matt Besser, sketch comedy shows and curated content including NBC Late Night Shows, “Monty Python’s Flying Circus,” “The Kids in the Hall” and the U.S. and U.K. versions of “The Office.”
Seeso debuted earlier this month.
The ad-free channel is available for a monthly subscription fee of $3.99 and is accessible across online streaming platforms, connected devices and distribution partners.
