NetGear has introduced a DOCSIS 3.0 voice and data gateway for the service provider market that features DOCSIS transmission rates up to 1 GHz, and aggregate Wi-Fi throughput of 1.9 GHz.
NetGear’s AC1900 Voice and Data Cable Gateway (C7000B) is designed to connect smartphones, tablets, smart TVs, and other devices in a home network.
The product incorporates a 24 x 8 DOCSIS 3.0 modem, and has IPv6 support. The C7000B supports SNMP, TR-069 and NetGear genie, giving cable operators tools for customer support, remote device management and field upgrades.
The dual band Wi-Fi connections (supporting transmission at 600- and 1,300 Mbps) rely on NetGear’s Beamforming technology, which directs a WiFi “beam” to each device. The company said the device also has “implicit Beamforming,” which it said enables Beamforming technology to be supported even on legacy client devices.
High power amplifiers and antenna design offer extended Wi-Fi coverage. Hotspot capabilities using GRE soft tunneling enable operators to virtually expand their network and provide more connection points to their customers, NetGear said.
An integrated 4-port Gigabit Ethernet switch and PacketCable 2.0 provide enhanced data and HD voice capabilities.
The C7000B offers end-users some additional features. End-users can easily manage their home networks with NetGear genie. Secure, one-step installation is enabled with Push ‘N’ Connect and WPS. Parental controls are included, and Guest Network gives end-users the ability to create separate, secure access for guests while EZ Mobile Connect provides quick guest network access with the ease of a QR code scan.
