WARREN, N.J. – Anadigics Inc. has launched the ACA2420 power doubler line amplifier, a high output power device designed to ensure optimal video and data delivery in deep fiber HFC architectures and other cable TV deployments that minimize the use of cascaded system amplifiers.

The new amplifier supports high output power levels (+58 dBmV/ch.) up to 1 GHz, providing a higher quality signal over longer distances, compared to amplifiers with lower output power handling capabilities, according to the company. Signal integrity is assured by the ACA2420’s high crash point, which allows the device to maintain low carrier-to-intermodulation noise (CIN), composite triple beat (CTB), and composite second order (CSO) distortion, says Anadigics.

The ACA2420 consists of two parallel amplifiers with low distortion and low noise figure that are optimized for use in a balanced configuration. The device provides 21.5 dB of RF gain and gain flatness of +/- 0.2 dB, operating from a single 24 VDC power supply.

Fiber closure

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Preformed Line Products (PLP) has introduced the new Coyote LCC fiber optics closure, designed specifically for low fiber count installations and repairs within fiber-to-the-home, fiber-to-the-node and fiber-to-the-curb deployments.

The closure features a compact size (17 inches long by 7 inches wide by 2.5 inches deep), use of a versatile grommet system and an internal Lite-Grip Splice. It has a splice capacity of 24 single fusion, and 72 ribbon; and it’s capable of in-line and butt applications.

Firmware upgrade 

INDIANAPOLIS – Trilithic has unveiled another firmware upgrade for its 860 DSPi Field Analyzer, incorporating new features including an error vector spectrum display, and trace route capability.

Error vector spectrum, a test technique traditionally performed with vector spectrum analyzers, gives the user the ability to view the spectrum characteristics within a QAM signal band (includes deep-interleave signals). This feature permits viewing ingress or distortion products that can cause tiling of video, slow data transmission, or dropped calls.

The EVS feature is a component of the 860’s QAM option, and the feature will be added automatically to analyzers with this option when the firmware is updated. The QAM option is field-installable, and can be activated with a purchased key code.
The trace route feature, which enables the user to trace the route that packets take to reach their destination, is now standard and available as part of the firmware update.

Most of Trilithic’s 860 DSPi firmware upgrades are free to all current 860 DSPi owners, and those that are optional can be activated with a purchased key code. Firmware updates can be accessed on Trilithic’s Web site or downloaded through the accompanying WorkBench Software. These new features and options are also available on all currently shipping units.

SAN DIEGO – The RFA-4028-WIFI kit by RF Connectors simplifies the testing of wireless, Wi-Fi and broadband cable assemblies in the field. The kit contains a Unidapt RF Cable tester (RFA-4018-20) with an assortment of 30 universal adapters, including male and female MMCX, N, Reverse Polarity TNC, Reverse Polarity SMA, TNC, BNC and SMA connector interfaces. By joining two adapters using a universal center included in the kit, coaxial adapters can be made with any combination of these interfaces.

The coaxial cable tester is a solid-state continuity checker that measures for opens and shorts. The LED display indicates continuity for the shield and center conductor, as well as a check for shorting across conductor paths. An additional continuity tester is included for testing CAT5/5E/6 straight through or crossover RJ-45, UTP, 10Base-T, 100Base-T, 1000Base-T EIA/TIA 568A/568/B network cables.
