LINE AMPLIFIERS – Triquint Intros Trio of Line Amplifiers
TriQuint Semiconductor now has available three new TriAccess line amplifiers that can replace multiple devices in cable and FTTH systems.
According to TriQuint product manager Brian Bauer, all three devices offer cable and FTTH manufacturers a choice of cost-effective RFICs built with gallium arsenide (GaAs) technology. TriQuint devices also reduce power consumption, the company said, making them a “green” choice that can also help RF cable designers by providing a single product solution for multiple applications. And in FTTH systems, TriQuint products can expand served subscribers by using installed networks to extend broadband coverage.
TriQuint’s new TAT6254B is an ultra-low-noise, high-gain TriAccess amplifier that is ideal for networks requiring highly sensitive optical input levels. With only 100-120 mA of current consumption, the TAT6254B offers competitive sensitivity levels. The device will benefit multiple forms of deployment, including QAM-dominated networks and high optical system link budgets.
TriQuint’s TAT7457 is a low supply current, flexible, single-ended amplifier that is ideal for subscriber premises applications, including Ethernet-over-coax (EoC) and optical network unit (ONU) systems, in addition to a variety of existing and emerging premises amplifier designs. It provides 19 dB gain, yet through an off-chip feedback resistor, it can also deliver variable gain adjustment, trading off the 120 mA (at 5V) typical current, making it ideal for home network amplification requirements.
The TAT8857 is ideal for use as a ‘doubler’ in typical 75 ohm line amplifier systems. It’s versatile, designed for distribution node applications from 40-1002 MHz; it can also be operated on 12 volts for optimal efficiency. The TAT8857 utilizes on-chip linearized, integrated pHEMT and MESFET technology to provide low distortion and configurable gain from 21-27 dB. The TAT8857 is ideally suited for manufacturers building cable infrastructure solutions, including line amplifiers, and in distribution nodes where low current consumption and high performance are especially desirable.
Veex Bows Next-Generation Tester
VeEx has introduced the VePal TX130M+, a tester that validates next-generation packet synchronization technologies implemented in mobile backhaul and carrier Ethernet networks.
The unit, according to VeEx, is the industry’s first handheld solution capable of emulating both master and slave clocks, according to ITU-T G.8261 SyncE and IEEE1588v2 standards. Either one or both of these protocols can be implemented in the mobile network or cell site, depending on the deployment scenario.
The TX130M+ measures packet delay variation (PDV) and also captures and decodes the precision time protocol (PTP) messages, which are used to achieve and maintain synchronization per the IEEE1588v2 standard. PTP enables the precise transfer of frequency and time to synchronize clocks over packet-based Ethernet networks, which is critical in next-generation LTE networks or latency-sensitive applications.
Mobile operators that are still in the process of migrating their networks from legacy TDM to packet-based backhaul will benefit from the VePal TX130M+’s range of DSn/PDH and Ethernet interfaces, the company said, as well as its test features.
RF Connectors Connects with Times Microwave
To meet the connection needs of Times Microwave’s LMR-400-LLPL – an indoor, highly fire retardant cable – RF Connectors has designed the RFN-1028-I2 N female connector with crimp attachment.
The RFN-1028-I2 N connector body is made of machined brass with nickel plating. All dielectrics are made of DuPont Teflon with gold-plated contacts.
3M Touts New One Pass Mini
3M recently introduced the 3M One Pass Mini Fiber Pathway, a single-fiber, adhesive-backed, surface-mount cable pathway and drop cable solution designed to enable telecom service providers and property owners to take fiber deep into a living unit – discreetly and with minimal subscriber disruption.
The pathway connects to a hallway distribution cable, and it is routed inside of a living unit to a wall outlet positioned near an ONT.
