A small Chicago area business that specializes in connecting businesses and MDUs with both fiber and Wi-Fi is about to transform into a new company that aims to provide triple play services to the same clientele, including existing clients.
MDI Access will form the core of the new Access Media 3, which will play up the local-business angle while trying to provide more flexibility and customer focus than incumbent providers. In Access Media 3’s case, flexibility means a willingness to craft a connectivity package that will take into account customers’ preference for access, whether wired, wireless, or some combination, as well as installing only as many of the constituent services in the triple play as the customer requires.
Access Media 3’s CEO is Scott Rediger, a co-founder of Ovation Communications, purchased by Internet provider McLeodUSA in 1999. Rediger most recently was chief operating officer of CIMCO Communications, a company that provides enterprise communications systems also in the Chicago area.
Rediger has already leveraged his relationship with McLeodUSA, which has entered into a contract to support the new company when necessary.
“Access Media 3 provides a better alternative to the status quo,” Rediger said. “Local property managers tell us cable upgrades in the Chicago marketplace can be costly and disruptive, with customer service providing slow response times and insufficient technical knowledge. Worse yet, there’s little choice of providers, and they’re stuck in contracts when service fails.”
