Next Generation Broadband (NGB), which is supplying the technology that allows cable operators to offer their data subscribers the option of testing higher speed tiers for free, has added a feature that allows subscribers to automatically activate the trial feature themselves.
NGB’s Auto Install system (currently being used by Cox) enables high-speed data subscribers to auto install cable modems and activate their broadband service without any operator intervention.
NGB has added a self-managed Free Trial Feature to its Auto Install automated subscriber activation system. Cable operators can set the length of the trial period.
NGB said its Auto Install IV system is network-based and needs no client software. No cable modem pre-provisioning is required and no customized middleware installation is necessary.
