Ten out of the thirteen executives on the combined Nokia-Alcatel-Lucent leadership team following the pending merger of the companies will be existing Nokia executives, the company announced Wednesday.
The new combined company will have six more unit leaders than Nokia alone, the company said, but the vast majority will be familiar faces. Current Nokia leaders expected to be at the helm of the new company include Executive Vice President and Group Chief Financial Officer Timo Ihamuotila, Chief Business Officer Ashish Chowdhary, Nokia Networks Mobile Broadband Executive Vice President Marc Rouanne, Executive Vice President of Human Resources Hans-Jurgen Bill, Nokia Networks Vice President of Corporate Strategy Kathrin Buvac, Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Affairs Barry French, and Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer Maria Varsellona.
The new company will include a Networks business with four groups, including Mobile Networks, Fixed Networks, Applications and Analytics and IP/Optical Networks, operating alongside Nokia Technologies, the company said.
Yesterday, the companies announced that the merger will include Nokia’s acquisition of Alcatel-Lucent’s undersea cable business, Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks, which will operate as its own entity.
The merger is expected to close in the first half of 2016, provided the deal clears all remaining regulatory hurdles.
